Most of the time, we don't even know we have a liver in our body until we're alerted to it by the onset of problems. As soon as pain under the right rib cage, nausea, poor digestion and increased fatigue, or even gallbladder problems come, we realize we have neglected something. But it's usually too late to fix it. How do we nurture the detoxification factory in our bodies?
The only organ that regenerates
The liver has an absolutely unique ability to regenerate and its cells can recover and heal from unsparing treatment for a long time. But even here, one day the imaginary ear of the pot with which one goes for water will break off. Therefore, make sure you get a good night's sleep, which should last at least 7 hours a day and should start around 10 pm, so that the body can complete all the processes. The body is governed by a biological clock that is almost more accurate than an atomic clock.
Think about what you eat
The more fat you eat, the more you deplete your liver. Especially by eating fatty and red meat. Your liver can only benefit from cutting down on fat, focusing more on fruit and vegetables and getting enough fluid and fibre. Carbohydrates, fried foods and starches in baked goods or chips are also significantly harmful to the liver.
The scourge of humanity - alcohol
Everyone has heard about how alcohol damages and destroys the liver, but not everyone actually heeds this warning. Consuming alcohol can lead to hardening of the liver and cirrhosis, which is an irreversible process. It reduces blood clotting and results in bleeding gums and easy bruising. In advanced cirrhosis, only a liver transplant will help.
How do you know the problem?
About the fact that the liver needs a little more consideration, the body gives warning signals in advance. And even more than one. Often these are changes in the skin and increased formation of acneiform boils. Red and itchy rashes may appear. A tired liver is also recognized by increased fatigue of the organism, bloating and nausea. The gallbladder is also part of the liver, and dysfunction is recognised by irregular stools and diarrhoea after each fatty meal.
Try to relieve the liver
For example, milk thistle, whether in the form of drops or powder, is helpful for the proper function of the liver, which is beneficial for the regeneration of liver cells. They also benefit from acidic foods. Lemon, artichokes, asparagus, beetroot, leeks and chicory are beneficial. You can also pamper your liver by eating enough honey, nuts or avocados. And don't forget spices such as turmeric, pepper, basil or cinnamon. If you feel you have wronged your liver, there are many ways to apologise to it. And you can start immediately.
Regular exercise is also important, as it helps the organs to circulate properly and to produce hormones for restful and healthy sleep. A brisk walk or a walk with your dog in the fresh air is enough. And preferably without alcohol.
